  1. IT managers appreciate more the ability to have concentrated focus that boosts employee productivity, in comparison to other departmental managers.
  2. IT managers report the same top two benefits of having remote teams as other managers: happier employees in remote teams (61%) and a more global talent pool (58%). In third place for IT managers comes lower officer costs (41%).
  3. When it comes to disadvantages of remote teams, both IT managers and other managers pick the same top three in the same order: a lack of relationships among employees, difficulties in communication, and decreased employee visibility.
  4. Other remote managers seem to have less difficulty with a lack of relationships among employees than their IT counterparts. Remote IT managers however find supervising and managing their employees easier.
  5. When it comes to important traits for a successful remote manager, IT managers, along with other managers, agree that excellent communication is their first choice.
  6. Remote IT managers find the use of digital tools to be much easier in comparison to other remote departmental managers. IT managers however struggle more when it comes to team culture and establishing relationships.
  7. 92% of remote IT managers believe that “remote work tools” will become a standard in all companies, regardless of their company working environment.
  8. Remote IT managers think that the biggest obstacle preventing companies from adopting remote work is the issue of trust (58%).
  9. We recommend for IT managers to start being more intentional in creating team bonds and company culture.
  10. To avoid burnout, it’s key for IT managers to set the correct tone for their teams and show how important it is to take care of everyone’s well-being.
  11. Avoiding misunderstandings and talking effectively with each other is one of the key building blocks of good relations within a team.
